Luminaries
Project Level: Easy. No skills needed.
I’m a sucker for anything with lights or candles, and the dollar store is a great place to source supplies.
You can use clear or colored glass vases (you might have some in your closet from flower deliveries), storage jars, mason jars, wine bottles, or *small clay pots.
What you’ll need
Whatever vessel you have chosen
Paint Pens or acrylic paints and brushes
Tea or flameless candles or battery bottle lights (such as these Bottle Lights)
Plastic table cloth (one for the table, and I cut up another for individual work stations)
Plastic cups for water if using paint and brushes, disposable plate for palette.
*If using clay pots, optional supplies-coffee beans, essential oils, and/or mulling spices.
Directions:
Option 1: Have fun! If you don’t think you have any painting skills, you can decorate with polka dots or swirls, or make vines with little flowers. When finished, insert the lights or candle and ta-da! you have a luminary. These are also great for making seasonal/holiday luminaries!
Option 2: If using the small clay pots, you can also fill pots with coffee beans and add 15 drops of essential oil. Nestle a tea light. When the candle warms the beans, a gentle aroma fills the air. During fall and winter, you can add mulling spices!
